Empathize, Don't Be a Jerk, and You'll Do Really Good Work

EMPATHY FOR DEVELOPERS

Developers are the builders. You hold the ultimate power in your hands. You can build to spec - or not. You can build to standard - or not. You can build to your convenience - or the end user's. Empathizing is the first step in design thinking. And guess what? Design thinking isn't just for designers! Developers do it all the time - you just don't realize it. Avoid going down the rabbit hole of development. Boost your empathy skills to produce empathy-based code that produces kick-ass results that managers, PMs, and designers respond positively to! Be the start of the team. Pass go. Collect $200. You get it!

The Empathy Song is a short song invented by Jake and performed by Finn in front of Donny in the episode "Donny." Finn sings it to make Donny be aware of how his actions make other people feel, and it proves successful. This song was the first step to turning Donny nice. Later, after the Why-wolves and the House People laugh at him, Donny sings the song in an attempt to console himself, but ultimately returns to being a jerk.

Don't be a jerk!
