This session is the condensed version of the trainings we offered at DrupalCamp New Jersey in 2015 and 2016 - but it is reduced from 6-7 hours into a fast-paced 45 minute talk!
Now that Drupal 8 is in the wild more and more people need to migrate. This quick tutorial will cover all of the concepts and code you will need to do a migraiton for the first time.
We talk about three different approaches to migration and provide links to additional resources so you can get up and running quickly:
- Migrating from old versions of Drupal using the UI
- "Generating" your migrations based on Drupal 8's discovery features
- Coding migrations from scratch - CSV import example
Concepts discussed will introduce you to the basics of Drupal 8 programming - just enough to get you comfortable working with the migration components, and enough that you can adapt the skills to teach yourself other aspects of the system.
Past Drupal experience is not required… but a bit of PHP knowledge will certainly help. This condensed session will cover everything we discuss in day-long migration trainings but at a faster pace and with more hyperlinks and hyperfun.
You should be comfortable working on the command line with Drush to make the most of this session.
