"Ok so, we're bought into this whole headless thing, now what?" This is where the ELMSLN team (Drupal-based learning management system) found itself earlier this year. We had a robust system that featured a suite of specialised Drupal sites that could be easily deployed and maintained, but something was missing. When attempting to implement complex workflows and user interfaces, we were falling short.
When you get to the point where you need to create app-like experiences within Drupal, front-end frameworks like Angular, React, and View.js can be the way to go. In this session, we'll walk through the process of how the ELMSLN team took our existing student submission and critiquing system to the next level with Angular 2. We'll also cover what new development workflows this introduced, how we managed the technical hurdles, and why we chose Angular 2 for our framework. Time permitting, we'll create our first Angular 2 application and pull in some Drupal data!
For this session, you should at least understand the concept of headless/decoupled Drupal.
